Introduction to Digital Electronics

Course Overview:

Digital electronics is what enables all the advanced gadgets you see around you today, like mobile phones, computers, and TVs.

It's the basis for all modern technology. Even though it may seem complex, when you break it down to its smallest parts, it's actually easy to understand what is going on.

In this course, you'll learn:

  • that digital electronics only use the two digits 0 and 1
  • how the binary system works
  • what logic gates are and how you can use them to build circuits with 1s and 0s
  • how to create memory
  • other building blocks used in digital electronics

The best way to learn it to practice, and in this course, we'll do experiments with the following components:

  • 9V Battery + battery clip
  • Breadboard
  • Jumper wires
  • Pushbutton
  • 5 x Resistor (1 kΩ)
  • 3x Resistor (10 kΩ)
  • 7x Resistor (between 3 kΩ and 5 kΩ)
  • 1x Capacitor (4.7µF)
  • 10x Light-Emitting Diode (Normal 5mm LED)
  • 1x NPN Transistor (Ex BC547 or 2N3904)
  • 1x DIP switch: With 4 switches
  • 1x IC with NOT gates/Inverters (Ex CD40106 or CD4069)
  • 1x IC with AND gates (Ex CD4081)
  • 1x IC with NAND gates (Ex CD4011)
  • 1x IC with decade counter and 7-segment outputs (CD4026)
  • 1x IC with decade counter (CD4017)
  • 1x 555 Timer (Ex NE555)
  • 7-Segment Display (Ex INND-TS56RCB)
