You will set up a laser beam in front of your door, which when broken by trick-or-treaters will trigger spooky sound effects of your choice.
This project revolves around a laser module and the cheap and simple MP3 player module DFPlayer Mini, which is widely available.

- MicroSD card
- Photoresistor (~1 kΩ or lower in light)
- BC547
- Small Speaker
- Resistor 10k
- 5V power supply (or use the LM7805 to convert from a higher voltage)
You’ll also need a computer with an SD card reader for adding sound(s) to the SD card.
