Halloween Project: Laser-Triggered Spooky Sounds

Course Overview:

Here is a project that you could make in no time that will make your trick-or-treat hosting a lot spookier.

You will set up a laser beam in front of your door, which when broken by trick-or-treaters will trigger spooky sound effects of your choice.

This project revolves around a laser module and the cheap and simple MP3 player module DFPlayer Mini, which is widely available.

Components needed

  • Laser module (https://amzn.to/3u1TFI4)
  • DFPlayer Mini module (https://amzn.to/3u8TNWm)
  • MicroSD card
  • Photoresistor (~1 kΩ or lower in light)
  • BC547
  • Small Speaker
  • Resistor 10k
  • 5V power supply (or use the LM7805 to convert from a higher voltage)

You’ll also need a computer with an SD card reader for adding sound(s) to the SD card.
