Hacking the Blinking LED

The Blinking LED board is a simple circuit that blinks and LED. It's also possible to build it on a breadboard. When you've built that, the next step is to make it do even cooler stuff with few hacks!

In this course, we've prepared six simple and fun experiments that you can do with your Blinking LED kit to get the most out of it.

You'll need the blinking LED board plus the following components to do the experiments:

  • Breadboard
  • Jumper wires
  • 9V battery
  • CD4017 (Integrated Circuit)
  • LEDs x 10
  • 1 µF capacitor
  • 1000 µF capacitor
  • 330 Ω resistor x 2
  • 1 kΩ resistor x 2
  • 10 kΩ resistor
  • 10 kΩ potentiometer
  • Speaker element
  • BC547 (or similar NPN transistor)
  • 10 kΩ photoresistor

You'll also need a soldering iron for one of the experiments.
